Community Relations
Community relations - visit of a lab

Ciba recognizes that each community where we operate facilities differs in terms of needs, cultural issues and expectations. Our intent is to build credible, sustainable relationships with neighbors, regulators and elected officials, fostering mutual understanding of the issues that face both the community and our Company. Ciba provides local management with flexibility to meet local community needs within a consistent framework of priorities and measures.

Our Focus

  • Science and Education: Ciba is especially interested in programs that help children, young people and families and that foster understanding and respect between community members. In particular, activities and programs that improve science education will not only contribute to the creation of new generations of innovative scientists but will also improve the broader public understanding of our products and our industry.
  • Environmental Excellence: The nature of our business means that responsible behavior in all aspects of environment, health and safety (EHS) is essential. Ciba seeks to use its expertise in this area and reinforce its reputation by supporting community initiatives that improve the natural environment and that encourage efficient use of resources.

Our Approach

  • Employee Involvement: Ciba encourages employee outreach, fundraising and involvement in local communities and recognizes the benefits for the individual, for the community and for the Company. We will continue to support our employees in endeavors that improve the quality of life where they live and work.
  • Meeting Local Needs: Our approach is to adapt our community relations programs so that they meet local neighborhood needs while maintaining some consistency and focus. We encourage dialogue, requests and feedback from our neighbors so that our sites can listen to community members and then devise appropriate activities.
