| The Specialty Chemicals Sector |

| We estimate that the global specialty chemicals sector is valued at around CHF 100 billion and consists of some 40 market segments. In contrast to commodities and bulk chemicals, specialty chemicals are manufactured and sold in relatively small volumes and at higher margins. They are usually critical components of the end products in which they are used. They are often developed for customers’ specific manufacturing requirements, making substitution of alternative products more difficult. This usually leads to a close relationship between the specialty chemicals producer and the customer. |
