The main objective of this framework and guideline was to describe a method, which allows companies to provide information on their environmental performance in a systematic and consistent way over periods of time. The guideline defines five environmental performance indicators:
The guideline describes how the data for each indicator is to be consolidated and then related to the Net Value Added.
The performance indicators have been calculated for the period 2004 to 2008 (see the Comments on Reporting Year) and have been validated by the independent consulting company ELLIPSON, Basel:
