When developing new products and processes, we pay careful attention to the optimal and considerate use of resources and energy.

We encourage:

• the application of new technologies which allow the use of alternative or renewable resources;
• the efficient use of primary energy through the application of modern technologies;
• energy recovery and recycling;
• the minimisation of raw material consumption; recovery of raw materials from wastes;
• the economic use of water, for both cooling and process purposes;
• the responsible use of land in the construction of buildings and manufacturing plants.

We assess investment projects for the efficient use of resources and energy.

Within their area of responsibility, the global and regional divisions, and the plants/works ensure that resources and energy are managed conscientiously and that suitable targets are set to improve energy efficiency.

Every employee is responsible for the careful use of energy and resources in his or her domain. Managers support their staff in their energy and resource conservation efforts through appropriate training and information.
