With its presence in China traced back to the end of 19th century, Ciba established its first representative office in Shanghai in 1935. Now it has a holding company in Shanghai and three trading companies in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taiwan. There are two branch offices in Beijing and Guangzhou, as well as nine production sites: Shanghai, Qingdao, Shouguang, Zhenjiang, Nanjing, Wenzhou, Yueyang, Xiangtan, and Taiwan. In addition, there is an R&D center in Shanghai. The Shanghai office serves as one of the hubs of the Asia Pacific region.
