We show our long-term commitment to the communities in which we invest in, by engaging in on-going community relations programs in India.

Supporting the less fortunate

• In the past five years, we have been donating school uniforms and footwear to more than a hundred children from the Dhulapi Government Primary School.

• We supported a six-month training course in stitching and embroidery for girls living in the village near the Santa Monica Plant. This training equipped them with skills to get employment or to start a career of their own.

• In April 2006, we provided free transport for the local village children in the Pulse Polio Immunization Programme where local health authorities administer free polio vaccines to children below the age of five years.

Caring for the environment

• In February 2006, we supported an inter-school science competition in Goa aimed to promote awareness of waste management among the young.

• We organized a clean up exercise for a public school for poor children. The children were also educated on the importance of cleanliness.
  

Promoting the arts In Ankleshwar, Diamond Dye-Chem Ltd. (DDL), a 100% subsidiary of Ciba Specialty Chemicals (India) Ltd. supports projects related to social welfare, cultural arts and natural calamities. DDL is instrumental in driving the building of the Theater for Performing Arts and Children’s Films which was officially opened in July 2005. This theater screens educational films for children, and also aims to help school children in the vicinity to excel in performing arts.
