1971 Ciba started operations in Singapore. There were four divisions, namely: Agro chemicals, Dyestuffs & Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals and Finance & Admin, which operated from two separate locations.
1978 Official opening ceremony of our new office building (single-storey office) and extended warehouse in Lok Yang Road on 23 January.
1981 Construction of new warehouse and office building.
1982 Relocation of the four divisions to the new office.
1984 Pharmaceuticals Regional Medical Department was formed.
1991 Regional Technical Centre was established by the Finishing group of the Dyes & Chemicals Division, to provide better service to customers in the region.
1997 Under the former Consumer Care Division, the Regional Technical Centre was expanded to include pretreatment, whiteners, and dyeing auxiliaries.
Asia Pacific Plastic Additives Technical Centre was shifted from Hong Kong to Singapore.
Regional President’s Office and Business Support Centre were shifted to Suntec Tower One in February.
2001 All company operations including the divisions were shifted to Nordic European Centre in International Business Park on 16 July.
A corporate restructuring took place in headquarters and the divisions were reorganized into five market-focused segments, Plastic Additives, Water & Paper Treatment, Coating Effects, Textile Effects and Home & Personal Care.
Regional Technical Centre for Home and Personal Care was established.
2003 The Textile Effects Regional Technical Centre ceased operations with the regional activities being transferred to Guangzhou, China and the local services taken up by Thailand.
2006 Start of the construction for the antioxidant manufacturing plant (Ciba Specialty Chemicals Industries (Singapore) Pte Ltd) in Jurong Island.
The Asia Pacific Technical Center for Plastic Additives Segment was moved to Ciba Shanghai in March.
Relocation of the Continental Applications Center from Shanghai to Singapore. Established a single Global Information Services hub for Asia Pacific in Singapore.
Integration of EFKA Additives into Ciba Specialty Chemicals, followed by the relocation of the Coating Effects laboratory from Shah Alam, Malaysia to Singapore. The new laboratory was opened in Singapore in June.
Completed agreed sale of the Textile Effects Segment to Huntsman Corporation on 30 June.
Sale of Masterbatch business in Malaysia to Clariant.
