During an adhesive's life cycle, the adhesive, as well as its components, is exposed to numerous factors that can contribute to the degradation of the adhesive. These factors can lead to manufacturing problems and reduced shelf life.  

 

Product consistency and reliability are necessary considerations for the manufacture, storage stability and service life of adhesives, sealants and their raw materials.

Ciba effects not only protect the physical and mechanical properties of the adhesive through processing, but also ensure that the adhesive maintains these properties through various stages of the adhesive lifecycle.

Ciba® IRGANOX® and Ciba®IRGAFOS®

Adhesives and its raw materials can undergo degradation, initiated by exposure to high temperatures, prolonged exposure to oxygen, mechanical shear or exposure to light.

Any one of these factors can lead to an undesirable change in physical properties of the unstabilized adhesive. These changes can result in manufacturing problems, poor product appearance or a reduction of adhesive strength.

Ciba® IRGANOX® and Ciba®IRGAFOS® antioxidants interrupt the degradation process and help to prevent or retard all the undesirable changes.
