Polyolefin based Decorative Foils

Polyolefin based Decorative Foils

The use of polyolefin based decorative foils has grown significantly over the last several years. These foils require, ever improving light stabilization packages, and also benefit from the development of innovative coloration options and possibilities for functionalization of the final article.

Plastic Additives for Polyolefin based Decorative Foils

Choosing the right stabilization and coloration package or other effects from Ciba's portfolio depends on the polymer and end-use application. Ciba® IRGANOX®, Ciba® IRGASTAB®, Ciba® CHIMASSORB® and Ciba® TINUVIN® are optimized processing and light stabilizer systems. Ciba® IRGAGUARD® antimicrobials are added to inhibit the growth of bacteria, algae and fungi in polymers.

Coloration for Polyolefin based Decorative Foils

For foils applications, it is important to choose highly dispersible pigments to ensure adequate incorporation and distribution in the polymer. Pigments from Ciba® CROMOPHTAL® P series provide excellent dispersibility and color consistency for overall faster and easier processing. Specifically for Polyolefin uses, Ciba® MICROLEN®-MC range of mono-pigment preparations are highly recommended for finest dispersion levels in the foil.
