Plastic Additives for PVC Decorative Foils
Due to the long lifetime expectancy of building and construction materials, ligth stabilizers are the most important effect additives for lamination films.
For PVC based lamination films, superior weathering performance is achieved using new systems based on technology and formulations including UV absorbers like Ciba® TINUVIN® 312 or Ciba® TINUVIN® 571. Other important effect additives for PVC based lamination films may include fluorescent whitening agents, antistatic agents or algicides. Ciba® IRGAGUARD® A 2000, offers excellent performance in PVC based lamination films.
Coloration for semi-rigid PVC films as Decorative Foils
Various shades can be produced including special effect ones with durable gloss. Since polymer systems are often especially formulated, colorant selection must be made according to compatibility with the host polymer and dispersability linked to film thickness and the colorant concentration necessary to achieve the targeted opacity.
For these foils applications, it is important to choose highly dispersible pigments to ensure adequate incorporation and distribution in the polymer. Pigments from Ciba® CROMOPHTAL® P series provide excellent dispersibility and color consistency for overall faster and easier processing. These pigments are often also available as MICRANYL® NQ-F and/or MICROLITH® -KP pre-dispersed forms for PVC.
