Global Product Stewardship
At Ciba, product stewardship is the key to our business success as well as our overriding commitment to Responsible Care®. Because our products are the driving force of our business, we’ve made it a point to develop the safest, most innovative products in a manner that eliminates waste, protects the environment, and is cost effective. Sound product stewardship makes sure that the design, development, manufacture, transport, use and disposal of our products are handled correctly. The way we see it, this is the only way to do business, as it benefits our customers, our neighbors, our employees, and our stakeholders.
We believe that the use of Triclosan should be supported by an assessment of the need for an antimicrobial substance in the end product. Ciba continues to support the use of Triclosan in consumer products if there is a clear benefit to its use.
The scientific data supporting the safety of triclosan stands clearly and consistently against misconceptions that are presented in activist campaigns and the media. On the basis of this wealth of data, triclosan is registered world-wide to support its use throughout the global market and has not been removed from the marketplace by regulatory restrictions in any country. Countries with specific triclosan approvals include Canada, European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Czech Republic, Japan, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Turkey, Israel, China, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Australia, South Africa and the United States.
At Ciba, we take great pride in our product stewardship. When our products are used as directed, they’re safe for you and the environment.
