TINOCARE^® GL , a Scleroglucan polysaccharide is a member of the ß-glucan family. It retains skin moisture in a natural way and improves the sensory characteristic of personal care formulations.

Wood-degrading fungi secrete a special type of ß-glucan, i.e. the triple-helical Scleroglucan. These organisms produce Scleroglucan as a moisture-retaining agent to ease the penetration of their cellular extensions called hyphens into the lamellar structure of wood.

Ciba has specifically copied this natural process and manufactures Scleroglucan in a way designed to maintain the native, collagen-like triple-helical architecture of the Scleroglucan and thereby its unique natural moisturizing and sensory properties.
