Elastane fibers (spandex) are subject to photo-oxidative degradation when exposed to sunlight or some artificial light. The result is a loss of the fabric’s elasticity. The fibers can be protected by the use of efficient light stabilizer systems. The combination of the UV absorber Ciba® TINUVIN® 234 and the HALS (hindered amine light stabilizer) Ciba® TINUVIN® 622 protects spandex apparel fibers from degradation and helps to maintain their elasticity.
