Polyamide fibers

Polyamide fibers

Color & Appeal

fibers colors

The ease of coloration offered by Polyamide (Nylon) pile fiber plays a major role in giving carpet designers the wide freedom of styling and design that they so highly appreciate. Apart from conventional exhaust dyeing and printing techniques, Nylon can also be mass-colored for particular end-uses such as heavy-duty and automotive applications. Colored pigments and polymer soluble colorants as well as effect additives are added to the fiber or yarn during the melt-spinning process, in a process commonly known as mass-coloration.

Durability and Protection

Our light stabilizers and antioxidants improve the quality of polyamide carpet yarn by protecting the fibers from degradation by UV light or heat, retaining the bright colors of the yarn and extending the lifetime of the carpets. Ciba® TINUVIN® 783 and Ciba® CHIMASSORB® 2020 light stabilizers effectively protect the polyamide fibers from degradation by UV light.

The use of the phenolic antioxidant Ciba® IRGANOX® 1098 improves the resistance to discoloration after heat treatment and provides excellent retention of physical properties. It can also be added during polycondensation. Ciba® IRGANOX® B 1171 provides excellent initial color and enhanced color stability after oven aging.
