Geotextiles are synthetic fabrics, knitted, woven or nonwoven used in a wide variety of civil engineering applications such as soil stabilization, drainage or filtration and erosion control. Artificial grass for sports surfaces belong also to this category.
 | Polypropylene (PP) and Polyester (PES) are the dominant materials used in geotextiles and construction fabrics. Woven fabrics are used as cladding on scaffold structures to improve working conditions and increase safety. Polyolefin nonwoven fabrics are also used in other construction applications such as vapor barriers in roof constructions. All these applications have specific requirements as to performance and life-time expectations. Effect additives can be used to modify the properties of nonwoven and broaden their applications. |
