Color & Appeal

The coloration of artificial grass yarns for sports surfaces requires the pigments used to have excellent lightfastness properties. Ciba offers selected powder pigments and pigment preparations for use in this application. These are listed in the tables below. In recent years, organic pigments have been increasingly taking the place of the traditional inorganic pigments.

Durability & Protection

Our light stabilizers increase the durability of polyolefin yarns for artificial turf. Light stabilizers protect the yarn from degradation by UV light. Ciba® TINUVIN® 791 is the state-of-the-art light stabilizer for polypropylene slit tapes or raffia. Premium performance such as melt flow stability can be achieved with Ciba® CHIMASSORB® 2020. Ciba® TINUVIN® 783 is recommended when water carry-over is an issue during tape extrusion. It is also the product of choice for polyethylene yarns.
