Polyolefin nonwovens

Polyolefin nonwovens for geotextiles and construction
polyolefin nonwoven

Polyolefin nonwovens used in geotextiles for construction fabrics have specific requirements as to performance and life-time expectations. Effect additives are used to modify the properties of nonwovens and broaden their applications.

Durability and Protection

Our light stabilizers improve the durability of polyolefin nonwovens for geotextiles and construction fabrics. Light stabilizers protect the fibers from degradation by UV light. Ciba® TINUVIN® 783 is the state-of-the-art light stabilizer for polyolefin fibers. Ciba® CHIMASSORB® 2020 offers superior melt flow stability during the manufacturing of polypropylene spunbond and contributes significantly to the thermal stability of the nonwoven. More

Safety & Environment

Very often geotextiles and construction fabrics need to be flame retarded to comply with fire safety regulations. For example for roofing vapor membranes flame retardant tests such as DIN 4102 B2 need to be passed. Our new halogen-free flame retardant Ciba® FLAMESTAB® NOR™ 116 provides flame retardant efficacy at low concentrations of 0.5-1.5%. Since it is melt processable, it is less likely to compromise the mechanical properties of the fiber. More
