Ciba^® IRGACLEAR^® XT 386 High-Efficiency, Next Generation Clarifier for Polypropylene

Very low haze and excellent “see-through” clarity at low concentration IRGACLEAR® XT 386 reduces haze and increases clarity of polypropylene. IRGACLEAR® XT 386 at 150 ppm is as effective as a conventional clarifier at approximately 2000 ppm.
	Organoleptic excellence Conventional clarifiers are prone to split off degradation products during processing and end use, which can lead to the formation of malodor as well as changes in the flavor of food. IRGACLEAR® XT 386 is based on a new chemistry platform for clarifiers which features high thermal and chemical stability. IRGACLEAR® XT 386 allows for favorable organoleptic properties for clarified polypropylene.
Maintains performance in recyclate and regrind Conventional clarifiers repeatedly processed between 240 and 280º C show notable degradation. This degradation results in reduced clarity, strong discoloration and distinct malodor.  IRGACLEAR® XT 386 can be processed several times without any notable degradation or performance loss. Particularly in applications where regrind is used, IRGACLEAR® XT 386 can lead to better optical, mechanical and physical properties compared to the conventional clarifier systems tested.

Low risk of plate-out
During melt processing by extrusion or molding, conventionally clarified polypropylene tends to plate out.
