Biofilm Formation

Biofilm Formation
hygienic

Formation of a biofilm impacts the hygiene and aesthetics of goods. To reduce maintenance work, the addition of antimicrobials in the polymer matrix is strongly recommended.

Micro-organisms in biofilms form a community that make it for the micro-organisms to carry out chemical reactions that no single microbe could. Biofilms also reduce the action of an antimicrobial that would be efficient in other conditions.

The use of an antimicrobial to avoid biofilm formation is particularly recommended for any material in contact with water such as:

     •  water cooling tower fill
     •  hoses, pipes and tubings
     •  swimming pool liner
     •  water dispenser
     •  liquid filtration...
