TINUVIN PUR 866

The new liquid stabilization package Ciba® IRGASTAB® PUR 68 fulfills the latest demanding market requirements in the foam industry.

Ciba® IRGASTAB® PUR 68 exhibits good resistance to scorching, fogging, and textile staining. It especially confers outstanding resistance to foam discoloration after gas and/or light exposure. These are key requirements in sensitive foam applications such as car interior foams, shoes and brassieres. A few foamers located in Asia are successfully experiencing the use of polyols containing Ciba® IRGASTAB® PUR 68 which helps satisfy their needs in technical foam applications.

A customer based in Southeast Asia said "Ciba® IRGASTAB® PUR 68 contributed to significantly reducing discoloration of our foams after light exposure. In addition, Ciba® IRGASTAB® PUR 68 is a pourable liquid which allows for dust free handling, automatic dosing and shortening of mixing time. It allows us to be more productive in our plants".

Polyurethane Introduction

Ciba develops formulations providing stabilization, coloration and property modifications to a range of polymer grades. We strive to help customers meet their objectives by maximizing throughput of on-prime product or satisfying down stream customers who have precise color control needs.  Polymers face challenges during manufacturing, compounding, transporation, storage, conversion and during the lifetime of the end-use article, which we address with our know-how in chemistry, material science and engineering . Experience and creative thinking enable us to deliver the right balance of effects.

Polyurethanes are among the most versatile polymers. They are used in a wide variety of applications including adhesives, sealants, coatings, fibers, reaction-injection molded (RIM)compounds, thermoplastic parts, elastomers and both rigid and flexible foams.

Polyurethane polymers (PUR) are processed in a number of ways. Two component, reactive systems are used for foams and some injection molding processes, while thermoplastic grades can be processed by extrusion, injection molding, calendering and solution coating.
