Thermoplastic polyurethanes are among the most versatile elastomeric materials. During the manufacture of TPUs, processing stabilizers such as Ciba® IRGANOX® 245, Ciba® IRGANOX® 1010 or Ciba® IRGANOX® 1098 are used to protect the polymer from degradation. Due to their versatility, TPUs are used in a wide range of applications that may require both thermal and/or light stability.
For enhanced end-use stability, thermal stabilizers including Ciba® IRGANOX® 1135, Ciba® IRGANOX® 245 or Ciba® IRGANOX® 1010 are used. Light stability can be achieved using hindered amines alone (Ciba® TINUVIN® 765 or Ciba® TINUVIN® 123) or in conjunction with UV absorbers (Ciba® TINUVIN® 571 or Ciba® TINUVIN® 213)
Also available is Ciba® TINUVIN® B 75, a liquid blend of all three stabilizer functionalities - antioxidant (Ciba® IRGANOX® 1135) plus hindered amine (Ciba® TINUVIN® 765) plus UV absorber (Ciba® TINUVIN® 571). Ciba® TINUVIN® B 75 provides long term stability, ease of handling and outstanding end-use performance, all in one liquid product.
To accomodate TPU processors, both liquid (above) and solid stabilizers such as Ciba® TINUVIN® 622, Ciba® TINUVIN® 770, Ciba® TINUVIN® 234 and Ciba® TINUVIN® 328 are available.
