OMOPHTAL                     Styrenics - Introduction Styrenic resins are general-purpose, high-impact and ignition-resistant resins that meet the application needs across a broad range of market segments such as appliance, automotive, consumer electronics, foam sheets, packaging, toys, and housewares.

Stabilization

Styrenic resins offer an impressive range of performance characteristics and the use of appropriate stabilizers can extend the service life of styrenic products. Selecting the best stabilization system depends on specific production conditions, end-use environment and a knowledge of the fundamental degradation mechanisms of the styrenics components.

Coloration

Ciba has a wide variety of colorants that are suitable for the selection of styrenic resins. The choice of colorant and the mode of incorporation varies with the type of styrenics and the end-application. Recommended colorants are predominantly in our Ciba® CROMOPHTAL® range of high performance organic pigments or the Ciba® ORACET® range of polymer soluble colorants for Engineering Plastics.

Other Additives

Depending on the end-use, antimicrobials, antistatics may be needed as well to provide the desired properties to a specific styrenic resin.
