Ciba® IRGACARE® MP has been the antimicrobial of choice in select medical device applications for years.  More recently, the company has expanded the antimicrobial technology portfolio to include HyGentic®, a series of novel, silver-based products with varying properties that can be employed alone or in combination to meet a wide variety of device surface challenges.

Ciba partners with its customers R&D teams to define the end use device requirements, then moves into material evaluation, solution formulation and optimization, and ultimately material integration, scale-up, and commercial launch.Ciba offers a comprehensive collection of supportive services including polymer processing in its own pilot plants or the polymer supplier’s site, surface coating, surface characterization, analytical confirmation of active loading and elution, screening and applied microbiology, on site engineering support to optimize machining processes, regulatory collaboration with the Ciba Expert Services unit including Device Master File submissions, approval support, e.g. 510(k); whatever is required to support the desired claims of our medical device partners.  Finally, Ciba provides marketing and brand support for its antimicrobial packages, e.g. “contains HyGentic® Antimicrobial Technology”, upon request.
